Hi this is Dave Wilson one of the twins. I have been married for thirty-one years to Janice Peal Wilson class of 75. We have two sons Nathanael and Paul. I worked for 25 years for the Newport News Schools in the transportation department, and retired in December 2004. I am working at Crutchman Truck Caps keeping their inventory in order. My wife Janice does books, and taxes for several companies. |

Hello Ya'll, I agree with a 2010 reunion. I will be glad to help anyway I can, as i am still in the area.
Also did we not have a reunion, i think it was 15 year? Or was it 10 year, or was it a dream. I did not go to the last one as no one contacted me so i look forward to the upcoming one.
I also think we should do them every 5 years as we are not getting any younger, but some may come up with a drink that could help!
Happy Holidays!

Well, we had planned on trying to track down 5 classmates a week but other things kind of got in the way like vacations, travel, jobs, etc. Some classmates are finding out about this site on their own and word of mouth which is great. We will keep plugging away to locate as many of our classmates we can to tell them about this site and to get their info for future reunions.
A reunion in 2010 is only a few years away and we still have a lot of work to do. If anyone knows of a way to get faster results on searches or to get the word out let us know. |

I think a 2010 reunion would be a great idea.Debbie's idea of informal gathering would be great also. I would be willing to help.Hope everyone is doing well. |

Thanks for your opinion on a 2010 class re-union Hank.
What about some more responses on this, no interest, then it will not happen.

reunion -- by: Hank Henry | Feb. 27, 2008 - 9:16:17AM

I vote for a reunion in 2010. Due to many different things, I have never been to one of the reunions. I would really like to attend one. Looking through the alumni site brings back a lot of memories. And as others have said, "we aren't getting any younger". |
|
|
|
|
A lot of DHS 70 graduates are still in the area. We aren't getting any younger and it's been sad to me to see how many we've lost. What about an informal get together of locals or anyone that wants to come? Depending on the size, it can be at my home or my neighborhood park. Pot luck, BYOB, and throw in a few dollars for incidentals? |

reunions to come -- by: Tom Southard | Feb. 13, 2008 - 1:00:01PM

I do not think we will try a joint reunion as it is a lot of work just getting one class to attend. Also if we can contact enough classmates it will feel like a joint reunion as there are so many we have not seen all these years. Some classmates wanted to talk to more classmates than they got a chance to do from 2006 so these are some things we can keep in mind. |

Tom & Karla,
I vote on a 40th in 2010, a 45th in 2015, and a 50th in 2020. In otherwords, every 5 years from here on out. Most of us will be retiring in the next five to ten years and will be more flexible with our time. When my father was still living, his class starting having yearly reunions after the 40th or 45th. My question is: Will we try joint reunions, like we did with our 36th? It was a lot of fun having our friends from the class of 1969 and 1971 with us. Thanks! Mark |

Year for the reunion -- by: Karla Brandon (Broome) | Feb. 9, 2008 - 11:55:49PM

LOL Bill!
I'd like to know how many attended the last reunion from our class. Anyone have that figure?
Regardless, I still think I would vote for 2010. As Tommy says, "We are not getting any younger."
And we have a good start in finding and notifying people on this site, so I believe we could have a great turnout for a 2010 reunion!

If you had to vote on when to attend the next reunion which year would you want to have it in?
2010 for our 40th or
2015 for our 45th or
2020 for our 50th
Never, did not like high school!
Keep in mind that the Mayan calendar ends on December 22, 2012(Google this date). |

Okay...one more posting about Coach Turley. I searched my old emails and found this note from a friend that still lives in Denbigh. This is what she wrote in 2001:
Mr. Turley....ran into him at Sam's about a month ago. He is the only coach still around from our old days. He retired from the school system several years ago....he was an administrator at Menchville High School....actually he left before any of my children got there. He deals in antiques!! He was always the nicest guy. |

Tom...I am sure you are talking about Coach Turley. Coach Cowley and Coach Turner both had the crewcut look. Though he tried to be tough, Coach Turley was really a nice guy. I heard that he is still in the Tidewater area. As for his age, remember, most of our teachers were just a year or two out of college themselves, so many were only 5-10 years older than us. Here is what I found through the magic of the internet (Switchboard.com) TOM TURLEY 924 ROYAL OAK CLOSE VIRGINIA BEACH, VA 23452 (757) 233-8518 |

Coach Cowley at top, Coach Turley at the bottom (I believe): http://www.flickr.com/photos/miataislander/2229175311/sizes/l/ pg. 55
Cowley and Turley: http://www.flickr.com/photos/miataislander/2229108153/sizes/l/ pg. 60
And to further complicate things, was it Coach Turner? Coach Turner: http://www.flickr.com/photos/miataislander/2229894052/sizes/l/ pg. 50
Hope this helps, and I apologize that I am not sure how to make these active links.
